I Went on a Retreat… And I Didn’t Come Back the Same
Hello tribe 💛
I’m back — and I have gist.
This past week was one of deep reflection, reset, and realignment for me.
It was stretching. It was humbling. It was beautiful. It was necessary.
If you know me well, you know I believe strongly in pausing to reflect.
Because if we don’t intentionally stop, we will keep moving — but not necessarily forward.
Many of us are swamped.
Endless responsibilities. Back-to-back schedules. Tasks that never finish. People pulling at us from every direction.
But here’s the danger:
If you don’t take time to reflect, you may be busy… but not aligned.
You may be moving… but not progressing.
You may be working hard… but not heading in the right direction.
So I went on a retreat.
And it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had in a long time.
A Forced Reassessment
This retreat forced me to reassess:
- My life
- My vision
- My why
- And most importantly — the next phase
I did this alongside about 40 incredible women — each in different seasons of life, each walking their own unique journey.
There is something powerful about stepping away from noise.
About being still long enough to hear clearly.
One of the highlights for me was when I was privileged to take these women on a guided visioning and visualisation journey.
We journeyed into the future. We surrendered control. We asked God to reveal the next steps.
And something shifted in the room.
There were tears. There was deep surrender. There was clarity. There was release.
Women saw things they hadn’t allowed themselves to see.
They accessed blueprints for their next phase.
They wrote the vision. And now they are ready to run with it.
It was humbling to be used as a vessel — like a lighthouse guiding others toward clarity.
One of the women sent me a note afterward, and honestly, it was one of the highlights of the entire retreat for me.
I was simply using what God has placed in my hands… to bless others. And that is powerful. Here’s something important:
You don’t have to wait until July. Or December. Or the end of the year.
You can reassess now.
Right where you are.
Take 15–20 minutes today and ask yourself:
- What direction is my life currently heading?
- Is my daily routine aligned with my bigger vision?
- What season am I in?
- What needs to shift?
- What am I holding onto that I should release?
- What is God asking me to step into?
And then pray: “Lord, show me the direction I should be going. Show me the expected end. ” Sometimes clarity is waiting for stillness.
And What About Our Children? As I reflected, something else became even clearer to me.
We should not wait until our children become adults before guiding them to seek clarity and direction about their lives.
They, too, can see.
They, too, can dream.
They, too, can begin to access purpose early.
Without guidance, children drift.
And when children drift, they become vulnerable to:
- distractions
- peer pressure
- comparison
- confusion
- negative influences
Many of us struggled in our teenage years simply because we had no clear direction.
We were moving… but not aligned.
That is one of our deepest “why’s” at Excel Beyond the Classroom (EBTC).
Inside EBTC, we guide children and teens to:
- dream big
- clarify their vision
- build resilience
- rise from failure
- communicate confidently
- manage money wisely
- develop real-life skills
- connect daily habits to long-term purpose
Not just to survive school, but to thrive beyond it.
And we officially start next Saturday, 28th February, 2026.
If you have not registered yet, this is your gentle nudge.
Invest in your children. Invest in your nieces and nephews. Sow seeds of clarity and purpose now.
Their future will thank you.
In Other News…If you haven’t watched our first YouTube Story yet, this midterm break is a perfect time. Let it become intentional screen time.
Watch together. Pause. Discuss. Reflect.
Hit reply and let me know what you think.
Before You Go…
Today, sit quietly for a few minutes.
Ask yourself:
Where am I really going?
And then whisper a simple prayer:
“Lord, show me the expected end. ” Clarity and direction changes everything.
With love and renewed vision, Ayodele 💛
